The ancient city of Sagunto was founded by the Romans and has an amphitheatre dating from that time as well as ruins of a modern-time fortress. It has 60.000 inhabitants and is 8 km away.
In Puerto Sagunto, 4 km south of Almardá, you will find all the shops (toys, articles of clothing) and supermarkets (Carrefour, Lidl, Aldi) you may need as well as various restaurants, bars and discotheques. On Thursdays and Saturdays, a market is held around the covered market.
Playa de Canet is within walking distance (750 m) and has a yacht harbour, two supermarkets (Consum, Mercadona), restaurants, ice-cream parlours, and a market is held there every Sunday morning.
Facilities to play tennis are available.
Almardá is a small, quiet holiday district consisting mainly of bungalows and some apartment blocks. It is not an overcrowded tourist centre but a district where nature still reigns. On the other
hand, it offers facilities meeting the requirements of everyday-shopping.
Crossing the dunes which are under conservation, you reach the sloping sandy beach. During summertime, this beach will be cleaned. Furthermore, there are installations of low showers to clean legs
and feet before leaving for home.
